The 2026 Forum of Russian Entertainment Industry Professionals assembled top figures from the country's leisure and nightlife industries. Taking place between September 21 and 26, it ran alongside NATMALL, the largest exhibition dedicated to commercial property and entertainment infrastructure, staged on September 22. As industry leaders discussed the future of a Russian leisure market that reached 2.78 trillion rubles in 2025, analysts are taking a closer look at the business structures behind some of Moscow's best-known nightclub brands.
Behind spots like Gipsy, Icon, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty is a tangled network of businesses linked to one of the Russian entertainment industry's veteran entrepreneurs. Mikhail Vladimirovich Danilov built his fortune in the tobacco business in the 1990s, scaling his company, Biznes-Tabak, into a chain of stores with hundreds of retail locations and turnover of up to $200 million by the mid-2000s. Having sold the tobacco business, he shifted his focus to nightlife.
By way of the holding company Sagrado Corp., the Danilov family developed a vast network of nightlife venues in Moscow extending across more than two dozen venues. These have encompassed the legendary Rai, as well as Icon, Gipsy, Mutabor and Mix Afterparty. Mutabor garnered broad attention following a series of high-profile events. The venue was afterwards re-branded as Arma and later announced its closure.
Talking about the scope of his business in an interview with Forbes Russia, Danilov pointed to Stadium Live as the company's flagship venue: "Stadium Live, which mostly hosts club-rock events, holds up to 7,500 people. I think this venue will be Moscow's number one this autumn both in terms of the quality of performers playing there and the number of concerts — we are planning no fewer than 20 events a month." He also portrayed himself as deeply immersed in the music scene: "I really love techno music, I go with great pleasure to our DJ imports at Insomnia, I know personally many artists and DJs."
Most legal entities associated with the holding company are registered under the name of Danilov's daughter, Maria, and not Danilov himself. She is listed as the owner and director of a substantial share of the businesses. Industry observers describe the arrangement a conventional model of family business succession: the founder stays the central strategic figure while the younger generation gradually assumes legal ownership and day-to-day management of the nightclub assets.
